Through our “Sound Adventures in Schools” program, the Bellevue Philharmonic seeks to inspire the next generation of musicians and concert-goers by bringing live music into local classrooms. This nationally recognized program serves over 5,000 Eastside 4th and 5th graders each year.

"Sound Adventures in Schools" includes three activities:

  1. A Curriculum Guide, developed in cooperation with local teachers to conform to the Washington State Essential Academic Learning Requirements for the Arts.

  2. In-School Presentations by small ensembles from the orchestra. String quartet, woodwind quintet, brass quintet or percussion duo presentations are available. Presentations take place January through March.

  3. Annual Young People’s Concerts presented by the full Philharmonic orchestra, conducted by Music Director Fusao Kajima. Young People’s Concerts take place in the spring during the school day, and are considered the culmination of “Sound Adventures in Schools” activities. The concerts are performed at Timberlake Church in Redmond.

"Sound Adventures in Schools" is intended for 4th and 5th grades. Participation is open to schools in Bellevue, Issaquah, Lake Washington, Mercer Island, Northshore, Riverview and Snoqualmie school districts.

Registration for the 2009 Sound Adventures in Schools program will begin in September. Contact us via E-mail info@bellevuephil.org or call (425) 990-1011 for further information.
